In this manufacturing setting, you help ensure raw materials, components, and shop supplies arrive when and where they are needed. You’ll collaborate closely with production teams, vendors, and logistics partners to support reliable, cost-effective sourcing that fuels operational success.
Key Responsibilities
• Purchase raw materials, components, tooling, and services to support daily production requirements
• Coordinate with production planning, engineering, and inventory teams to maintain optimal stock levels and prevent shortages
• Issue, track, and manage purchase orders, expediting deliveries when needed to meet manufacturing timelines
• Communicate effectively with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, order changes, and quality expectations
• Identify cost-saving opportunities while ensuring compliance with product specifications and quality standards
• Resolve issues related to late deliveries, quantity discrepancies, or damaged materials
• Maintain accurate purchasing data in ERP/MRP systems including pricing, lead times, and supplier information
• Assist in supplier evaluations and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance and reliability
• Support cycle counts, physical inventory checks, and root-cause investigations for material variances
• Follow purchasing policies and safety standards expected within a manufacturing environment
Qualifications
• Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Industrial Management, or related field preferred; manufacturing experience strongly valued
• 1-3 years in purchasing, supply chain, or procurement role within a manufacturing facility preferred
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and inventory control practices
• Strong communication and vendor relationship-building skills
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production setting
• Problem-solving mindset with curiosity about how materials impact the manufacturing procesS
