Job Summary:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily quality operations on the production floor, ensuring that all products meet established quality standards. The QA Supervisor leads a team of quality inspectors and technicians, facilitates adherence to quality control processes, and works closely with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues. This role is crucial in maintaining product consistency, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement within the manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise Daily QA Operations:
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of quality control inspectors and technicians on the production floor.
  • Ensure that products are tested, inspected, and evaluated according to established quality standards and procedures.
  • Monitor adherence to QA processes and provide direction for quality-related tasks.
  • Team Leadership and Training:
  • Lead and coach the QA team to ensure that they are performing their duties effectively and efficiently.
  • Provide ongoing training for QA staff on inspection methods, quality standards, and proper use of testing equipment.
  • Ensure team members are updated on any new quality procedures or product changes.
  • Quality Control and Compliance:
  • Implement and enforce quality control procedures at various stages of production to identify defects or non-conformances.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including ISO, GMP, and other relevant industry certifications.
  • Conduct regular spot checks and inspections of products, processes, and production lines.
  • Issue Resolution and Continuous Improvement:
  • Investigate and resolve any quality issues that arise during production, including non-conforming products, customer complaints, and internal defects.
  • Lead root cause analysis for quality problems and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve recurring issues and improve overall product quality.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of quality inspections, test results, and deviations.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on quality performance metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure that all documentation is up-to-date and readily accessible for audits or regulatory inspections.
  • Assist with Audits and Compliance:
  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring that the facility and products comply with regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Address audit findings and follow up on corrective actions in collaboration with the QA Manager.
  • Product and Process Testing:
  • Oversee testing protocols for raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to verify quality standards.
  • Ensure that testing equipment is calibrated and maintained according to company procedures.

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Quality Management, Engineering, or Manufacturing) or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and tools (e.g., ISO, GMP, SPC).
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing quality role.
  • Certification in quality-related programs (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt).
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis tools and quality software (e.g., Minitab, SPC).

Skills and Competencies:
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to manage and motivate a team.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical mindset.
  • Effective communication skills for liaising with production teams, management, and external auditors.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to handle documentation and reporting.

Work Environment:
  • This role will primarily operate on the production floor, requiring exposure to noise, machinery, and potentially hazardous materials.
  • Some physical activity, such as lifting or moving products, may be required during inspections.
  • Occasional weekend or shift work may be necessary to meet production or audit deadlines.
